Meet The Doppler(!) our latest, retro, shave-tech, reboot & re-tweak release...and yeah, kinda had to go with Butterscotch again! There really is something about this color and Erskine that really go sooo well together!
The Erskine A-500
I frig'n love the look and shape of this classic design! Though inanimate as it sits beside my sink, I can swear I see energy coming off of it! Visually appealing, steadfast, sleek and just sexy. Can I even call a shave brush sexy? You half expect the handle to be telescopic in its teasing shape! I feel like we really got it right with the size of this model in relation to its vintage counterpart! It possesses such a simple, yet sophisticated harmony.

Erskine, another classic vintage shave company with a history thinner than a whisker. Aside from a few 75 year old ads, there's not much out there in regards to the Erskine Company.
Erskine brushes bear the name of the company founder James Lowe Erskine (b. 1861, d. 1937). The James Lowe Erskine Company was located in Brooklyn, NY and made brushes from 1888 to at least 1957. [Old School Shaving Brushes]
I have also seen some dates on a certain shave forum, but no real history, no real story. It's so sad how much history we have lost...but i'm sure some folks out there can put some pieces into place for us!
So once more, in an attempt to build more awareness around vintage Erskine brushes, I decided to reboot the Model A-500 this time. Much like in the case of the Solar Flare, I have also always been a fan of the shape of this handle! And again, nothing screams "Vintage" like the color butterscotch. This may or may not have a lot to do with my grandpappy's pocket full of Werther's. (I'll keep you posted on what comes out of therapy)
