Black Shroud Mysterium Serum | Advanced Alcohol Free Aftershave Balm | 100ml
Hold onto your seats gents, Black Shroud is here! (and yeah, this gets a Mysterium Serum! Looking at you archivist!)
Never before has such a scent so classic been dropped! An homage to 3 greats; Vintage Woodhue by Faberge, Dean Martin...and even Weird Al gets a tip of the hat! (Rather than explain the last one, I'll just leave it for the geeks to get!)
Top notes: Menthol, Mint, Rose
Middle notes: Sandalwood, Amber, Spice, Floral
Bottom notes: Vetiver, Woody, Cedar, Vanilla
Created in 1938 & Discontinued in 1986, A Real Lost Gem!
A spicy, woody oriental, both complex & lively. This timeless accord, like the original, features a bewitching dry-down from epic amber & creamy sandalwood/vanilla sliding into a sensuous vetiver/cedar finish. Instant Amore, trust me!
If you didn't know, Woodhue was the only fragrance Dean Martin would ever wear! One whiff of this juice and you'll understand immediately why. It is said it was also a favorite of Carey Grant's if that tells you anything!
Woodhue For Victory!
Originally released in 1938, this is the scent American soldiers were coming back to. Where Aqua Velva reminded them of war and duty, Woodhue was the scent of pure victory! That said, this accord holds up, which isn't always the case with some of the other popular scents of that time. But I'll be damned if Dino's splash doesn't still kick...ahem, well you know what I mean.
It's a total honor to revive this wonder of the ages and reintroduce it to those who missed it the first time around! I highly recommend going to youtube right now and listening to Dean Martin's "Sway", Next watch his live version of "Mambo Italiano". Sway is pretty much the musical interpretation of this fragrance, where his prowess and presence in the live performance are the physical interpretation of Black Shroud. Where words fail, these tunes truly convey the beauty and cocksureness of the fragrance. Perfect for night time wear or anytime wear this fall & winter!Like "Dino", Black Shroud projects sophistication & confidence; a playful sense of being in your element and enjoying it.

Great question! As with all our formulations, it's really about the synergistic effects of the choice ingredients used. So put on your reading glasses and get ready to really dig into this cocktail of EPIC!
But What's inside Doug, what really sets this apart?
Hyaluronic Acid: As we age, skin moisture can drop significantly, which makes the skin lose elasticity and expose the signs of aging on the skin. Hyaluronic acid, like glycerin, is also a humectant and plays a critical role in skin hydration with its unique ability to hold in moisture (1000 ml of water per gram of hyaluronic acid). Hyaluronic acid also can adjust its moisture absorption rate based on the humidity—relative to the season and the climate. This can help keep your skin looking fresh, hydrated, and healthy all year round'!
Deep thought went into this Moisturizing Monster
Hyaluronic Acid comes in low and high molecular weights which can have slightly different results on the skin. Higher weight Hyaluronic Acid molecules are larger in size so will sit on the skin surface and attract moisture from the atmosphere, while lower weight Hyaluronic Acid is a smaller molecule that can penetrate the skin to help make it appear more plump and hydrate. That said, Mysterium Serum contains lower weight Hyaluronic Acid so as not to leave a greasy, heavy on the skin feel.
And this is just some of the magic that is Hyaluronic Acid, truly a superstar when it comes to skin food!
Next we have...
Allantoin: is considered an ultra effective moisturizing ingredient both its gentle, and non-irritating qualities make it an excellent addition to for those with sensitive skin.
In performing its hydrating functions, the outer layer of skin our epidermis, synthesises a very large number of proteins and oils (lipids) that are naturally found in the stratum corneum. This is called keratinisation.
Allantoin is clever, in that it actually can promote balance in the stratum corneum, this is the reason that allantoin is known for leaving skin feeling smooth.
Pea Extract: Is rich in protein, and it also contains essential amino acids, calcium, iron and potassium. In addition, this extract has vitamin B6, folate and vitamin C, all three of which are excellent at counteracting the free radical damage that drains elastin proteins and collagen from the skin...not that us manly men really care about this kinda thing. :)
DL Panthenol (Pro Vitamin B): Is present in all living cells, which makes it the perfect ingredient for a skin smoothing & moisturizing aftershave balm! This stuff is SUPER PENETRATING; When panthenol is applied to the skin it results in a conversion to pantothenic acid; this acid is readily absorbed by the skin, penetrating deep into the lower layers promoting a healthy looking glow.
Clinical research has found that pantothenic acid not only is not only extremely moisturizing, but when regularly used over a period of four weeks or more it helps to consistently soften freshly shaven skin, making it look healthier and more attractive.
MSM: The abbreviation for methylsulfonylmethane, MSM is found in all living organisms and is formed organically of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and sulfur. In the human body, it acts as the “glue” that holds together our amino acid chains – aka the building blocks of all tissues.
Green Tea Extract: Research has established that topical application of green tea extracts have many benefits for improving the appearance of your skin.
Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is one of the active constituents of green tea believed to be responsible for its appearance benefits, both orally and topically.
Green Tea Extract is also gentle and is among the most well researched and impressive ingredients in terms of its many benefits that result in a more moisturized healthier looking appearance...BOOM!
Fractionated Coconut Oil (FCO): is made from regular coconut oil – but it’s only a fraction of what coconut oil is (hence the name, of course). While regular coconut oil contains long-chain fatty acids, fractionated coconut oil has had these fatty acids removed via processes called steam distillation and hydrolysis. All that remains now is the medium-chain fatty acids; also called medium-chain triglycerides. This is why fractionated coconut oil is often called MCT oil since it only contains medium-chain fatty acids.
The absence of the long-chain fatty acids makes fractionated coconut oil more stable than regular coconut oil, and also gives it a longer shelf life. It absorbs easily into your skin and doesn’t leave it feeling oily like straight coconut oil. Thus, your skin is left feeling soft, but not greasy; the perfect balance.
Olive Squalane: Is a high purity vegetable Squalane obtained from Olives. Well known as Nature's Facelift, Olive Squalane is a botanical lipid that mirrors human lipids in molecular structure and weight (scientists found that the skin's sebaceous glands synthesized approximately 10-12% Squalane). The Olive Squalane is the plant-derived alternative to the animal-derived (shark liver oil) of the past. This valuable lipid is extremely compatible with the skin and is safe for all skin types.
The addition of Olive Squalane can:
- Helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
- Softens the appearance of rough-textured skin, leaving no oily residue.
- Highly Stable against oxidation.
Yeah, it pretty much rocks!
Shea butter contains Vitamins A, E and F. Vitamins A and E help keep skin healthy looking. They are particularly helpful for sun damaged skin and to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and facial lines. The Vitamin A in shea butter is important for improving the look of skin conditions, including uneven color and wrinkles. Vitamin F acts as a protector, soothing the appearance of rough, dry or chapped skin, and helps soften dry or damaged hair.
How does Shea Butter work?
Shea butter’s unparalleled hydrating property is due to natural moisturizers that are chemically similar to those produced by the body’s own sebaceous glands. Shea butter also contains healthy fatty acids. It is high in unsaponifiables (a type of fat) containing between 7-12%. Shea butter easily penetrates the skin and will not clog pores. Shea butter has powerful moisturizing benefits for the skin.
Shea butter applications and benefits include the following:
- Excellent daily skin moisturizer for face and body
- Can help reduce the appearance blemishes and wrinkles
- Use after shaving to reduce razor bumps
Aloe Vera Juice: Used for a host of purposes since the ancient Egyptians called it the “plant of immortality.” It's one of the most popular plants to use after prolonged sun exposure to help moisturize dry, sun soaked skin.
Aloe vera is a cactus plant that belongs to the Liliaceae family. It grows in dry climates such as those found in parts of Africa and India. Aloe leaves secrete a clear gel that when broken off from the rest of the plant that can be applied topically to soothe skin.
Aloe moisturizes the skin without giving it a greasy feel, so it's perfect for anyone with an oily skin complexion. Aloe contains over 75 different nutrients including vitamins, minerals, enzymes, sugars, anthraquinones or phenolic compounds, lignin, saponins, sterols, amino acids and salicylic acid. Bet you didn't know any of that!
That is pretty much it folks!
