There’s something about October. Something in the air, just as the leaves curl and wither, and the nights stretch out, long and dark. You feel it, don’t you? That prickling along the back of your neck, like the season itself is witching... ahem, watching. Waiting. It’s a time, as you know, when the boundaries thin here in the PAA Universe, when what’s been forgotten sometimes claws its way back into our lives, stitch by stitch. ['tis the season, no?]

This October, Greenwitch Envy is coming for you.

If you were around in 1998, you remember the scent. Gucci Envy for Men—something green, something shiny, something smooth, something you couldn’t quite put your finger on, but you couldn’t shake it either. A scent that stayed with you. It got inside your head. It got on your skin, hell, it got under your skin too. Like a cold wind that carried the essence of spring into a ghost city, its architecture was modern, a minimalist statement that resisted gaudiness.

The composition started with fresh, green notes and a cool metallic accord that froze the senses in time. Then, it gradually warmed up with woody notes and musk. And just like that, it disappeared. Gone. No warning, no explanation. One day it was on the shelves, and the next, just a memory, a phantom. But scent ghosts have a way of returning sometimes, especially when PAA is involved, no?

The Resurrection of Envy

Greenwitch Envy isn’t just a fragrance. It’s a summoning. Why Greenwitch? There’s a story there, one most people don’t know. Greenwitch is part of The Dark Is Rising book series by Susan Cooper. Long before Harry what’s-his-name, there was Simon, Jane, and Barnabas Drew! As a child, I was captivated by these books, pulled into a mysterious magical world that will forever haunt me…in a good way! So with this classic tale in mind I made this release a dual homage! Greenwitch Envy is now part of two stories. A feeling of old magic and a scent born of the earth, of roots that go deep into the ground, of autumn nights where the air turns cold and sharp, and you can almost hear the ancient and recent past whispering from beyond. It’s for those who understand that some things never really die—they just wait...in the shadows!

Why is Preshave Soap BETTER Than Preshave Oil?

Well first off, as with anything in life, it all comes down to personal preference. I can tell you why I think it's better, but in the end, do what works for you! First off, unlike using oil, a Preshave Soap will not gunk up your gear and rinses away easy.

I was seriously turned off by all the clean up involved when using oils. Plus I was always concerned about it getting into my favorite brushes undetected and going rancid. Also, applying oil with your hands then holding onto a blade is not the safest move in my book. [That said, if you currently use an oil, apply it with your non-shaver hand!] In short, Preshave Oils inspired me to find a better way!

Why a Preshave Soap is More Effective.

A preshave soap really offers more bang for your buck; for one, it's more affordable and longer lasting. Use it first to clean the face before you shave, then rinse. Then reapply the soap prior to whipping up lather: First in a circular motion, then against the grain. The soap gets under the hairs, slightly propping them up, giving the blade more surface area to "bite" on to. The glycerin acts as a humectant pulling more water into the hair, prepping and softening it, thus making it a bigger target to mow down!

I have read a few interpretations by folks in the forums who have noticed CUBE's appearances and have been flummoxed. What Does it Mean? [I super appreciate that folks are becoming more hip to the universe in our labels!]

What Strange Shave Tech is This?

It's great to finally bring CUBE to life for people to interface with! Holding it in your hand you can almost feel a force, an energy pulsating, drawing you in. However, all I can say at this time is, all shall be revealed in a future installment of the saga. Until then, embrace the mystery of CUBE and use it wisely!
