Meet Continuum 004, homage to that classic, Gucci Pour Homme II, and note...THIS one is for the Millennials and late Gen Xers among us! You folks will almost definitely remember this one! Also note, the time of this release is not accidental. Continuum 004 is about as Autumn as a fine fragrance can get; A bona fide, fall olfactory unicorn!
The fact that this scent was discontinued truly confounds me. So let's get into it!
Over the last few months we passed out hundreds of sample vials of this stuff...and since then, the PMs and Emails began pinging. I must be a glutton for punishment, really. But I digress. The feedback has been all positive! People frig'n love this stuff! One guy told me it actually brought tears to his eyes for it immediately transported him back to his youth! He shall remain nameless here...but you probably know him. :) #WeDoTimeTravel
That said, older shave cadets will also appreciate this one I believe. Especially if you enjoy our Tea Party 508. Similar DNA but nothing too much the same. A "Tea Type" scent...but oh so much more.
A silky, refined blend of cool tea and warm spice, Doppelgänger Continuum 004 opens with fresh bergamot and green violet leaf before unfolding into a sophisticated swirl of black tea, a kiss of cinnamon, and pimento. The dry-down rests on soft tobacco leaf, smooth olive wood, and resinous myrrh, creating an elegant, meditative fragrance that just feels special. I personally get an infectious, effervescent note in this blend that keeps me returning to the bottle throughout the work day...or taking a whiff of my wrist when no one is looking (not that I care). So note again, it's more than just a tea forward scent, it's addictive. (and VERY wearable)
Doppelgänger Continuum No. 004: A Tea-Spiced, Time Traveling, Super Spy Scent (trust me)
There was a moment, somewhere between the rise of designer minimalism and the death of the department store fragrance counter, when Gucci still dared to be poetic. 2007, A quieter era. Fewer influencer unboxings, and far more mystery. A time when a men’s fragrance could whisper instead of shout, and still leave a room feeling charged. (Maybe I should have waited to drop this as "007"?)
That’s where Gucci Pour Homme II entered the scene (referred to as "2007" by those who know). A specter haunting a modern-day library or tea house; refined, reflective, and yes, long gone. But as you know, the Doppelgänger Continuum Series isn’t about letting great scents fade away. It’s about calling them back to the land of the living! (even if I have to head into Hades myself to retrieve them!) - When Fran ever held this one under my schnoz I immediately knew we had to bring this stuff back!
Why is this scent important?
Before “fresh” meant “sporty,” before “warm” meant “sweet,” there was a scent that redefined balance. Pour Homme II was never about loud dominance, it was about quiet presence. A fresh cup of black tea steeped in bergamot light, infused with cinnamon and pimento, unfolding into the meditative calm of tobacco leaf, olive wood, and myrrh. Where its predecessor (Gucci Pour Homme, 2003) was smoke and swagger, this one was pure silk and stillness. There was a confident, intelligence to this stuff.
What you get is cozy sophistication, the rare fragrance that feels introspective, stoic and yet still magnetic. Again, absolutely perfect for this time of YEAR! The black tea accord is airy yet grounded, the cinnamon plays like an ember rather than a blaze, and the olive wood/myrrh drydown evokes worn leather chairs and pages curled from time. If calm itself had a scent this just might be it! Seriously.
Continuum 004 isn’t imitation; it’s continuation. It’s the same contemplative quiet, newly brewed with modern precision and care. For those who prefer a well-placed comma over an exclamation point. In the current state we on planet Earth find ourselves in, this scent may be especially relevant.
The Fragrance Collector’s Reality
Gucci discontinued Pour Homme II nearly a decade ago, and in doing so, created a cult following (as tends to happen). Today, original bottles fetch $300-$500 on the gray market, if you can even find one. But like every entry in the Doppelgänger Continuum, this release isn’t about chasing hype, it’s about preserving artistry and history. Now we invite you to partake once again in the continuing history of this masterly-crafted scent!
