The official scent notes are: Rose, Sage, Bergamot, Citrus, Wood, and Amber. But like Gondolier, the Rose in this soap blends so well with the other elements, that I'm at a loss to single it out in the blend.

Instead, the primary scent I detect is a woody warmth. Behind the warm wood is an accord that I can't place, but that leaves a distinct impression of time and place. To me, Speakeasy smells of a well-heeled Men's Club - the kind with antique wood furniture, thick velvet curtains and fringe, and deep Berber rugs.

It smells of money and sophistication, and makes the same "Old World" impression that Gondolier does. The departure is that Gondolier smells overtly masculine and bold. Speakeasy has a more understated sophistication which projects confidence, while every bit as manly. Gondolier makes the ladies swoon, but Speakeasy says, "Been there, done that."

Both my girls loved it. The missus said, "Oh, I like this! What's the sweet smell?" (?) Again, both make me shake my head, since I can't smell anything sweet here. But-hey!-thumb's up!

This is an excellent blend.
TL;DR: Sophisticated, warm, woody scent that conjures stability and masculine confidence. Very nice!

I am currently using only Phoenix shave soaps for my shaving pleasure, they just overall perform extremely well for me. Speakeasy is my favorite, just love the scent which is Sunday pleasant finishing with a nice touch of leather. Perhaps a strange analogy but to each their own in the world of wet shaving. Try this soap you wont be disappointed.

Great lather, great aroma, great shave. I really enjoyed using this shaving soap. It lathered up so nicely. Rich, creamy, just what good shaving lather should be. It's shaving soaps like this which makes me an ardent PAA fan.

The soap has a real nice crisp post shave finish. The scent rocks as a very clean baby-powder scent mixed in with a buttery goodness. Very Posh and Loverly with the Rose - a wonderful Spring/Summer combo!

Nice cushion, light yet musky not too overpowering so it works well with almost any AS. Post shave feel was very soft and slick definitely a nice old school touch.

The lather was immense (four passes if I was so inclined), slick, exceptional cushion, and the post-shave is great (ongoing). I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that I was on the second shave with a Feather that I thought was a little rough the first time through . . . I’ll attribute the smoothness on this shave to Doug’s creation. How good is the scent profile? So good it “could” supplant my beloved Gondolier for first in the rotation . . . nah, that can’t happen.

BTW, and probably most importantly, the wife gave it the thumbs up . . . still “likes Polo best” . . . oh the unenlightened.
