Dapper Doc's Lilac & Fig Shaving Soap - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements
Doc Holiday was many things but one thing he was not was...a slob.
Holiday had rather refined tastes for a gunslinger of his time and known to be a rather snappy dresser, sharp in wit and style. Lilac & Fig, a classy scent reminiscent of Victorian times and something our outlaw hero Doc Holiday might have bought off the back of a stage coach that just arrived from back East. I envision Doc slapping on something similar before a long night of cards or an early playhouse performance at the Birdcage Theater in Tombstone , Az. You may smell like Lilac & Fig but you ain't no daisy!
This Soap was originally just a "one off" special soap I created for the Arizona Shavers first Meet Up. Somehow word got out and I soon was receiving emails and private messages about this mysterious, elusive soap called Dapper Doc. Eventually I decided the time was right to make this special soap available to the general public...enjoy!

On the scent again, I did bloom the soap, twice, thinking it would bring out some of the fig to mellow out the lilac which it didn’t, at least I didn’t notice it.
I do enjoy the shave I get with this soap, the smell when shaving isn’t "very in my face", no pun intended, but smelling it when I open the tin to start my shave kind of makes me weary of using it. I’ll keep blooming it, maybe some of the lilac will die down.
I think the 8oz tin might be too much. I say that because the soap is so easy to build up, I probably swirled my brush in the soap for a 10 count and I had more than enough. I did a 30 count when I first got this to test the soap and that was overkill. I could probably do a 5 count and have plenty of soap to shave with. So I ordered the smaller sized tin of CaD. We’ll see how that works out. I’m sure it will lather like a beast as this one did.
I took two stars off for the scent because if the first wiff doesn’t make me eager to lather it up I can’t see giving it 4 stars, but it does perform at a 5 star level.
