Wet Shaving Starter Kit - The Basic Kit - Clubguy Shaving Soap & Atomic Rocket Brush - (Optional Alum Block)

$24.95 USD

Ready to take the plunge into the wondrous world of Traditional Wet Shaving? With the prices of cartridge razors being what they are and the inferior "one size fits all" shaves they provide, millions of Men (and women) are returning back to time tested methods of shaving; Shave Soap, Shave Brush and Safety Razor!

Sure there are cartridge blade clubs you can join and save some cash, but is it really worth the subpar shave?

If you are serious about saving money and getting the best shave possible, a safety razor is where it's at when blades cost just pennies! That's right, 100 Double Edge Blades cost an average of $9-$15! Simply put, you have been paying far too much for the wrong tool for the job that in the end, does more harm than good.

Before cartridge razors there was no talk of razor burn or ingrown hairs like there is today. They didn't even make products for such modern symptoms. You see, every time you drag a blade across your face you take off a layer of skin, is there any wonder why most men think they have sensitive skin and hate to shave? A cartridge is designed to cut with the first blade, lift with the second, cut with the third and so on...being cut so short the hair then drops way below the surface, begging to become ingrown!

A safety razor requires just a single blade, you decide how many times or passes it makes across your face. Most men do an average of three passes, reapplying lather with the brush in between passes. Passes are usually With The Grain (WTG), then Across The Grain (XTG), and lastly, Against The Grain (ATG). That's it!

There are also thousands of brands of Double Edged Blades to choose from, so in time, you can find the one that works best for your own unique face, skin and hair type...it doesn't need to be "One Size Fits All"...in fact, it never should have been!

Just Like blades, there are many types of safety razors, soaps and brushes to choose from too giving the consumer a truly customized shave, suited solely for them. You can't get that kind of shave from a cartridge razor, plus the process is quite enjoyable and meditative.

Unlike shaving cream in a can, a shave soap contains no harsh chemicals like propellants and other things difficult to pronounce. There's is also zero waste left over, unlike those metal spray cans that make their way with those plastic razors into the landfill.

Then there's the natural exfoliating action of the brush lifting hairs, hydrating as well as lightly massaging the face in a warm lather, the perfect preparation for a shave; simply luxurious. You don't get this from "goo in a can".
Join the millions of men who have decided to take their shaves back, free their faces and stop being slaves to inferior cartridge razor shaves!
  • Good for your face
  • Good for your wallet
  • Good for the planet

Our Basic Kit

This kit was designed for the novice in mind who already owns a safety razor, be it a vintage piece he picked up or a modern safety razor...or, maybe it's for a gent who doesn't want to give up his multi cartridge razor just yet and ease his way in with a puck of high quality shave soap and a lather brush. Be you one or the other, this kits for you and will take your shave to the next level.

Our Basic Kit includes one of our most popular shaving soaps along with a high quality synthetic hair shaving brush to get you started the right way, at an affordable price.

Clubguy Shaving SoapWhen someone says "Barbershop Scent", what classic aftershave immediately comes to mind? Yup, that's the one!

The Atomic Rocket Brush is based on one of my favorite, somewhat rare vintage Ever-Ready Shave Brush Handles...ON STEROIDS!

It's true, this bad boy is Burley, weighing in at 4.40 oz, it practically whips up a lather itself! A solid, heavy resin design, a good weight, great balance and feels extremely comfortable in the hand, with a 26mm "Suave" knot.

Optional Alum Block or "What the heck is Alum bub?"

Potassium Alum is used as a post shave antiseptic, toner and all around magic healing block. Calm your skin down with this block of naturally occurring potassium alum mineral crystals and never look back!

Alum is also a great tool when just beginning to wet shave, aiding you with tingly feedback indicating how your technique is coming along!  Too much tingle means you had a rough shave and still need to focus on your angle or pressure...or both!

Alum blocks can become a bit slippery when wet so our Alum comes with a handy rubber band to help keep it in your hands (not on the bathroom floor)!

Instructions: Alum is amazing, simply wet it and rub all over the area just shaved, simple as that. You can choose to rinse it off after a couple minutes or leave it on. This really depends on your skin type. Alum is also great for acne prone skin....sigh, wish I new of this stuff when I was in high school!
