But What is Outdoorsman's Friend Doug?
Sorry, I forget we have a lot of new folks here! Outdoorsman's friend is actually one of the first products I ever made! It's true, before shaving soap and moustache wax, I was making deodorant, one deodorant, called Stink No Mas.
More Than Deodorant
I developed this for travelers in Central & South America especially! You see, Stink No Mas was an emergency travel size deodorant made with pure essential oils that would repel bugs when activated by your own body heat! [Our first innovation that really turned heads!]
This was really popular with the adventure tourist crowd but then we moved onto other things for different reasons and kinda forgot all about Stink No Mas.
Fast forward to 2013, we were now established artisans back in the USA on the shave scene, and being so, we would get interviewed here and there on different vids and podcasts. In these interviews I would always begin with our origin story and naturally start with early creations like Stink No Mas. As you can guess, these interviews led to PMs and emails expressing renewed interest in this product, especially from outdoor enthusiasts!
So in 2016, to much fanfare, we released Stink No Mas once more under the new moniker, Outdoorsman's Friend! As I mentioned above, it was only available in a deodorant and splash. I figured that's all folks really needed...but I was wrong, way wrong.
Turns out a lot of you fellas were shaving while out there in the great outdoors and really wanted a matching soap. I resisted these pleads for the first few years but not anymore giving you not one, but two shave soaps to choose from AND a matching Star Jelly!
New Tweak
By now, most of you know we are constantly tweaking our formulations in an effort to ALWAYS stay current and deliver to our customers the best possible versions of our products, so it won't surprise you that I updated the Outdoorsman's Aftershave.
Being that steam distillation is a big thing with me I decided to create some catnip hydrosol and use it in place of the peppermint hydrosol. While peppermint is a natural bug repellent, catnip is a much stronger one. In fact, catnip is reported to be 10X stronger than DEET...so this seemed like a no brainer. Being that Catnip Oil was already on the ingredient list including the hydrosol too could only boost the effectiveness! BOOM!!!!

CUBE - 8 ounces and 6 sides of solid otherworldliness. CUBE is not your everyday preshave. CUBE takes your shave to another dimension adding extra protection, hydration, slickness and glide. A powerhouse of slick with a kick of Banana Oil!
Why is Preshave Soap BETTER Than Preshave Oil?
Well first off, as with anything in life, it all comes down to personal preference. I can tell you why I think it's better, but in the end, do what works for you! First off, unlike using oil, a Preshave Soap will not gunk up your gear and rinses away easy.
I was seriously turned off by all the clean up involved when using oils. Plus I was always concerned about it getting into my favorite brushes undetected and going rancid. Also, applying oil with your hands then holding onto a blade is not the safest move in my book. [That said, if you currently use an oil, apply it with your non-shaver hand!] In short, Preshave Oils inspired me to find a better way!

The release of CUBE has been a long time coming. For those who are privy to the PAA Universe, you may have seen CUBE hovering in the background on different labels and in ads...observing. I have read a few interpretations by folks in the forums who have noticed CUBE's appearances and have been flummoxed. What Does it Mean? [I super appreciate that folks are becoming more hip to the universe in our labels!]
What Strange Shave Tech is This?
It's great to finally bring CUBE to life for people to interface with! Holding it in your hand you can almost feel a force, an energy pulsating, drawing you in.
